Overview

Discover the unique tribes of Myanmar and the beauty of the country through trekking through some of the most scenic destinations of Myanmar. From crossing the second tallest viaduct of Goteik, meeting to Rawan Tribe of Putao, to taking a boat along the Dokhtawaddy River to meet Burmese farmers, this trip will allow you to discover unique traditions to create memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

DAY 01

Arrival Mandalay

Welcome at Mandalay International Airport and transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour in Mandalay start for visiting of traditional handicraft workshops such as, marble carving, gold leaves beating, Kuthodaw Pagoda – the world biggest book, Shwenandaw (Golden Palace) Monastery.
Finally enjoy the sunset on top of Mandalay Hill where we can admire the beauty of Mandalay City, Shan Plateau, etc. Come back to hotel and leisure. Overnight in Mandalay.

DAY 02

Excursion Sagaing & Ava. Enjoy the sunset at U Bein

Early morning leave for Sagaing (around 06:30am) and direct drive to the SMALL JADE MARKET in Sagaing and visit (Busiest time of Jade market is around 07:30am).
Continue visit KA NAR TAW Village where villagers are earning making Myanmar Traditional Toys and distributing it to the pagodas. We can see Myanmar traditional toys in every pagodas and which are attracting to the children. We can learn the process of making toys in the village (remark: workshops will be close on full moon day / Dark moon day and Sabbath days). Then visit KAUNGMUTAW PAGODA, Silver Smith workshop and then drive up to Sagaing Hill, the place of over 700 monasteries. Visit Soon Oo Pon Nya Shin Pagoda where we can observe the fascinating landscapes of the Ayeyarwaddy River from serene Sagaing Hill. Continue to Ava and visit by horse carts to Maenu Okkyaung Monastery – built by the chief queen in 1818, Nan Myint Tower – 27 meter masonry high, Bargayar Monastery – well known for its wood carving with 267 teak pillars. Come back to Amarpaura and enjoy the sunset by crossing Over U Bein Bridge. Overnight in Mandalay.

DAY 03

Mandalay - Putao

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Putao. Transfer to the lodge. Putao lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. Putao town and fort was built during 1914-15 by Commissioner Mr. Hertz along with Fort which later known as Fort Hertz. Later a Missionary basing the Rawan and Lisu tribe as initial and introduce Grapefruit, Washington Naval, Vlincha Orange, Ruby Oranges, King Orange and King Mandarin plus America Lime were introduced. After a brief fresh up take a walk around Putao for the orientation. Overnight at the lodge.

DAY 04

Putao – Htawadum – Malikhun - Kanugmulone - Namkham

Early in the morning we visit attractive market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Return to hotel, breakfast and depart by jeep/truck through the vast Putao plain on pebbled road toward Htawadum (8 mile, approx. one hour). Just before we reach Htawadum village we turn north to Malidi. Here we left our car and start trek to our today destination at Namkham (10 mile, approx. 6 hour). First we trek toward north along the Nampalat creek where we we cross the creek by make-ship Bamboo Bridge but immediate after this we get in to another smaller creek across Nan She. After the creek we get in to a small bush and as soon as we get off the bush we get in to an open field about an hour and half having nice trek enjoying the surrounding and finally we get to a large riverside village at Malikhun. Here we enjoy a social interact with local while our crew prepare a boat to cross Malikha river. Once we cross the river to get to Nam Buyan. Here we turn south and trek to Kaungmulone via Ngwa Saga village. Kaungmulone Pagoda, said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by Thiri Dhamma Thawka, the great king. Lunch stop and we continue trek to Namkham passing smaller villages such as Salundum and Htrandum etc. Namkham, a large Rawan village, situates at the bottom of Namhti mountain range which in rich with biodiversity of flora and fauna. Name after Hkamti Shan name meaning “Golden River” has become the center of cultivation place for the fruits that Father Robert Moss has introduced thus today famous for its sweet fruits production. We settle in at our guest house and visit Malikha River for a swim, which probably be a highlight for the day. Dinner and overnight at Namkham Village House.

DAY 05

Namkham – Machanbaw – Fairy Island - Mulashidi – Putao

We board on local fishermen boat and leisurely cruise down in the Malikha River enjoying the sights and sounds of the natural environment. Our riverine journey should take us about two hour to get to Machanbaw, a charming administrative town ex-Putao with beautifully set up colonial style. We have shore excursion of this town and continue our riverine journey down south to so-called Fairy Island through beautiful wilderness surrounding having high reef with lush tropical forests. Here we have our lunch at the sand bank and relax through the afternoon. Later we return up stream by boat to Naungkhine jetty where we our driver who will then take us to Mulashidi, (20 mile, approx. one hour). Mulashidi, meaning in Lisu “the village stands in the thatch field along Mula River”. Here we visit suspension bridge across Mula River and enjoy beautiful surrounding often back drop with snow-capped mountains in distance. Later we return back to Putao and check in at our hotel. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

DAY 06

Putao - Mandalay

Perhaps a second visit to Putao market and further visit in and around Putao with suggestion by our guide. Transfer to airport for the flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and check-in. Free time and overnight.

DAY 07

Excursion Amarapura & Mingun

Early morning, pick up at the hotel and transfer to a traditional Mandalay quarter to participate in SOON OFFERING. In the morning, monks line up along the streets to receive food donations from local people and it is nice sense of Soon offering ceremony with the good merit of local people. After that, back to hotel and breakfast.
Firstly visit Mahamuni Buddha Image – one of the most sacred Buddha Images in Myanmar and then excursion to Amarapura – an ancient capital of Myanmar, where we can observe the life of over 1000 monks at Mahagandaryon Monastery & silk weaving factory and Shwer Inbin Teak wood Monastery. Afternoon boat excursion to Mingun (01 hour) along mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. During the river cruise, we may enjoy the fascinating landscapes of the river as well as the daily life of the people living along the Ayeyarwaddy. Visit Mingun pagoda – unfinished pagoda & the biggest ringing bell of 90 tons, the unusual Myatheindan pagoda. Cruise back to Mandalay and enjoy Sunset On Board. Overnight in Mandalay.

DAY 08

Mandalay - Pyin Oo Lwin [2 hrs]-Hsipaw [2 hours]

Drive to Pyin Oo Lwin, former colonial hill station at 1040 meters above the sea level. We can observe the pine trees, eucalyptus and silver oak, coffee, vegetables and strawberries, which are grown on the slopes of the hills. Upon arrival Pyin Oo Lwin, enjoy Coffee Plantation Tour.
“Discover the true meaning of farm-to-table with a guided tour and tasting at one of the country’s premier coffee plantations. Sithar coffee farm founded in 1996 located on the hill town at 3300 feet, ideal for coffee growing.2hrs guided coffee tour and hiking 40 acre with the lush tree-shaded coffee fields, the tropical hills you will discover how coffee I grown and harvested.
The local farmer will guide you to understand the process of milling coffee green beans. You will have chance to strap on a picking basket and begin picking the really dark red ripe beans. Freshly roasted coffee will be cupped using pour over. Proceed to Hsipaw. Transfer to the hotel and have a free day. Overnight in Hsipaw.

DAY 09

Hsipaw

The river passing through Hsipaw town is called the Dokthawaddy River and transfer to jetty to enjoy a boat ride up the river through amazing scenery of mountains, plantations along the river and general village life in this interesting part of Myanmar.
We get out of the boat for an hour walk to visit a 150 years old Shan monastery in the forest. Visit the river confluence and on the way back in the direction of Hsipaw we visit a charming traditional Shan village. A half day guided excursion that will give you an insight in Shan life. Then back to Hsipaw and leisure. Overnight in Hsipaw.

DAY 10

Hsipaw - Mandalay

After visiting the bustling local market [except on Full Moon & New Moon Days], drive back to Mandalay and visit Baw Gyo Pagoda on the way. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival to Mandalay and free time. Overnight.

DAY 11

River cruise to Bagan

Early morning, transfer to the jetty for the river cruise to Bagan. Leisure and enjoy the marvelous landscapes during the cruise. The boat may stop in some villages to get the local passengers up and down. Arrive to Bagan and transfer to hotel. Free time and overnight in Bagan.
If the weather doesn’t permit or due to lack of passengers, the boats sometimes cancel the trip [especially between April and September] and we might have to do it overland [about 4/5 hours]

DAY 12

Bagan

Visit colorful local market, Shwezigon Pagoda-the glory of Bagan,Htilominlo Temple-the best pilaster carving, Nathtaukkyaung -monastery made of teak wood, Ananda Temple-the masterpiece of Bagan, Gubyaukgyi Temple-the best mural paintings of 11th century, Manuha Temple, Dhamayangyi Temple-the biggest temple in Bagan, Sulamani Temple-the 12th century temple, the lacquer-ware workshop-the unique of Bagan, etc. Finally, enjoy the sunset on the top of a Sunset Hill. Overnight in Bagan.

DAY 13

Morning Cycling tour/Horse cart tour in Bagan and afternoon enjoy cruise

Visit of Bagan by cyclying tour or horse cart tour. Bagan is the richest Archeological sites in Myanmar and once splendid and glorious capital of the First Myanmar Empire. It is the most amazing site in Myanmar as in every direction we look, we will see ruins of all sizes huge and glorious like Ananda soar towards the sky, and small, graceful pagodas & temples stand alone in the fields.
Explore unknown temples as addition to Tour Sightseeing in Bagan. Back to your hotel. In the afternoon around 02:30PM, transfer to jetty and take private local boat along Ayeyarwaddy River and cruise until to see Shwezigon pagoda and scene of Bagan.
Then sailing down and stop at little village Selan, river village.
Cruise back to Bagan and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy a free day and have the overnight in Bagan
[OPTIONAL: Enjoy cocktail at sandbank near Selan village by enjoying marvelous view over Majestic Bagan of spectacular sunset].

DAY 14

Bagan - Heho - Pindaya - Inle

Transfer to the airport and flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho airport, Drive to Pindaya by enjoying the marvelous landscapes of hilly region with vegetables plantation, terrace landing cultivation, etc. Visit the Pindaya Caves – houses 8094 Buddha Images. And then continue to Inle Lake. Transfer and check in at the hotel and overnight at Inle Lake.

DAY 15

Excursion Inle

Visit by boat to the local tribe market if coincides, In Thein Pagodas, Lotus petal robe & silk weaving looms at Inn Paw Khone village, Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda the most venerable pagoda on the lake, Ngaphechaung monastery, etc. Overnight at Inle Lake.

DAY 16

Inle - Heho -Yangon

Transfer to airport for flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, visit to Bogyoke market which is also known as Scott’s market [except on Mondays & Public Holidays], China Town, Indian Town, etc. Finally, visit Shwedagon Pagoda- one of the wonders of the world. Overnight in Yangon.

DAY 17

Departure

Transfer to Yangon International Airport for the departure.

Remarks

  • Recommended between November to March
  • Lightweight clothing that dries quickly with raincoats to keep you warm is recommended
  • Protection against insect bite is recommended
  • From June to mid-October, the trekking routes may vary according to the weather conditions
