Overview

There are few better ways to enjoy the sceneries of Myanmar than taking a cruise along the mighty Irrawaddy River in a traditional teak-wood boat. The beautiful sceneries and the people alongside the river make for the perfect trip to dive into the heart of Myanmar.

DAY 01

Arrival Mandalay

Welcome at Mandalay International Airport and transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour in Mandalay start for visiting of traditional handicraft workshops such as, marble carving, gold leaves beating, Kuthodaw Pagoda – the world biggest book, Shwenandaw (Golden Palace) Monastery. Finally enjoy the sunset on top of Mandalay Hill where we can admire the beauty of Mandalay City, Shan Plateau, etc. Come back to hotel and leisure. Overnight in Mandalay.

DAY 02

Excursion Sagaing & Ava. Enjoy the sunset at U Bein

Early morning leave for Sagaing (around 06:30am) and direct drive to the SMALL JADE MARKET in Sagaing and visit (Busiest time of Jade market is around 07:30am).
Continue visit KA NAR TAW Village where villagers are earning making Myanmar Traditional Toys and distributing it to the pagodas. We can see Myanmar traditional toys in every pagodas. and which are attracting to the children. We can learn the process of making toys in the village Then visit KAUNGMUTAW PAGODA, Silver Smith workshop and then drive up to Sagaing Hill, the place of over 700 monasteries. Visit Soon Oo Pon Nya Shin Pagoda where we can observe the fascinating landscapes of the Ayeyarwaddy River from serene Sagaing Hill. Continue to Ava and visit by horse carts to Maenu Okkyaung Monastery – built by the chief queen in 1818, Nan Myint Tower – 27 meter masonry high, Bargayar Monastery – well known for its wood carving with 267 teak pillars. Come back to Amarpaura and enjoy the sunset by crossing Over U Bein Bridge. Overnight in Mandalay.
Remark: workshops will be close on full moon day / Dark moon day and Sabbath days.

DAY 03

Mandalay - Tagaung

Drive to Taungaung [about 6/7 hours] which is one of the most ancient cities of Myanmar. According to the legend, Myanmar was stated in Tagaung. The road is bumpy but we can observe the authentic daily life of the rural area. Arrive to Tagaung and embark on board.

DAY 04

RV Min Kyan Sit

Visit Tagaung ancient city and Payagyi Pagoda, U Tint Te (Guardian Spirit of Home), market and the cruise starts towards the Thayetkone and Male villages which are totally untouched by any foreign visitors. We can observe the truly authentic rural life. Overnight on board.

DAY 05

RV Min Kyan Sit

Continue our river journey towards Pe Saung and enjoy the village life there. Proceed to Thabaikyin and on the way visit Anyarthihataw pagoda. Continue the cruise towards Kyaukmyaung which is the most important village in Myanmar for producing of glazed earthen jar. Overnight on board.

DAY 06

RV Min Kyan Sit - Mandalay

Visit around the pottery village and the cruise departs to Hton Gyi village. Enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way and you may have the new experience to see the Ayeyarwaddy dolphin (depends on the period). Then proceed to Mingun and visit Pathodaygyi – unfinished pagoda & the biggest ringing bell of 90 tons, the unusual Myatheindan pagoda. Back to Mandalay and disembarkation. Transfer to hotel and overnight.
The above itinerary of the cruise is subject to change without prior notice, depending on the water level and weather condition.

DAY 07

Mandalay - Bagan

Leisure on your own. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bagan. Upon arrival, if time permits we may observe the sunset on a sunset hill. Transfer to hotel and check-in. Overnight in Bagan.

DAY 08

Bagan

Visit colorful local market, Shwezigon Pagoda – the glory of Bagan, Htilominlo Temple – the best pilaster carving, Nathtaukkyaung Monastery – monastery made of teak wood, Ananda Temple – the masterpiece of Bagan, Gubyaukgyi Temple – the best mural paintings of 11th century, Manuha Temple -huge Buddha Images, Dhamayangyi Temple – the biggest temple in Bagan, Sulamani Temple – the 12th century templethe lacquerware workshop – the unique of Bagan, etc. Finally, enjoy the sunset on top of a Sunset Hill. Overnight in Bagan.

DAY 09

Bagan

Visit Lawkananda pagoda, which has the fascinating river view, Payathonezu temples with mural paintings, Nagayon Temple of 11th century, Apyeyadanar Temple with mural paintings, etc. In the late afternoon, visit Minanathu village to observe the life of people. Finally, we may take the boat ride on the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River during the sunset time. Overnight in Bagan.

DAY 10

Bagan - Heho - Pindaya - Inle

Transfer to the airport and flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho airport, Drive to Pindaya by enjoying the marvelous landscapes of hilly region with vegetables plantation, terrace landing cultivation, etc. Visit the Pindaya Caves – houses 8094 Buddha Images. And then continue to Inle Lake. Transfer and check in at the hotel and overnight at Inle Lake.

DAY 11

Excursion Inle

Visit to the local tribe market if coincides by boat, In Thein Pagodas, Lotus petal robe & silk weaving looms at Inn Paw Khone village, Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda the most venerable pagoda on the lake, Ngaphechaung monastery, etc. Overnight at Inle Lake.

DAY 12

Inle - Heho - Yangon

Transfer to Heho airport and flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and check in.
Walking tour starts with Colonial Area as the city featuring the faded colonial architecture of the old post office, Pansodan Street with Colonial architecture Building and walk up to the Pansodan Bridge to make good photos of colonial area and bustling street. Continue walk to High Court and Mahabandoola Garden including the Independence Monument along the way and Sule Pagoda, heart of City Center. Then visit Chauk-htet-kyi Pagoda; to see life like Reclining Buddha Image in guest-receiving position with Buddhist Monasteries around the Temple. In the evening, visit to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda; one of the wonders in the world and noted for its religious significance and artistic beauty. Enjoy the sun-set from the Great Temple. Offer the Planetary Post which belongs to your Birthday with water, flowers, candle lights, and incense sticks. Then back to Yangon and leisure. Overnight in Yangon.

DAY 13

Yangon - Pyay [Prome]

This morning, leave Yangon for Pyay, about 286 km North-West of Yangon on the eastern bank of Ayeyarwaddy River, about 5 Hours Drive. Lunch either at a local restaurant on the way or in Pyay. Pyay (ex-Prome) is famous for Sriksetra; Ancient Pyu City from the 1st to 9th Century AD. The civilization once stretched north to south for hundreds of kilometers along the Ayeyarwaddy River, had advanced irrigation techniques and was part of the introduction of Buddhism to Myanmar. Enjoy the scenery and the country lifestyle as you will pass the green paddy fields along the side of the highway.
As we are approaching to Pyay, en route ,visit Shwe-taung; a small town 14 km from Pyay to see Shwe-myet-hman Phaya meaning ‘Buddha Image with the Golden Spectacles’ a reference to a large white face sitting Buddha image inside the main shrine. The Buddha image wears golden rimmed spectacles. Spectacles were added during the Konbaung era (the last Dynasty). There is a saying that this image can cure illnesses especially for eyes. Proceed to Shwe-nat -taung Pagoda; which means ‘Golden Spirit Mountain’. This pagoda dates back to the Srikettra era. Legend takes it back all the way to 283 BC from which it was reconstructed by a long range of Myanmar Kings with the aid of local Nats (spirits).
Upon arrival in Pyay, check in at the Hotel. After refreshments, drive to Sriksetra, 8 km out of town. Visit Hmawzar archaeological museum to observe Pyu’s urn-burials & artifacts such as , coins, ceramic, metal wares, stone inscriptions and gold leaves in Sanskrit,Pali & Pyu languages, etc. Later on, visit to Bawbaw Gyi, Be be Gyi, East & West Zegu pagodas, Leimyaethna Pagoda. Return to Hotel and Dinner at a good local Restaurant. Overnight in Pyay.

DAY 14

Pyay - Akauk Hills (By Boat) - Pyay - Yangon (By Road)

Drive to the other side of Ayeyarwady River, to Htone Bo; the small town where heavy industries of Government located, from where we will take a boat to see amazing numerous Buddha images of different size and posture carved along the cliffs of the riverbank, approxi: 15 min-sailing down and 45 min-sailing up boat ride.
This area is known as Akauk Taung, which means “Customs Hill” After the second Anglo-Burmese war in 1853, Akauk Taung became the border between Upper Burma, which belonged to the Myanmar King, and Lower Burma belonging to the English. Here, the British taxed goods, travelling by boat on the river and because of long Customs queue, boatmen started to carve Buddha images along the cliffs to while away their time. Return to Pyay and enjoy lunch at a good local restaurant.
After Lunch, visit Shwesandaw Pagoda; which treasured a duplicate of the Buddha’s tooth relic from Kandy, Sri Lanka. Later on, visit to Se-htet-kyi Phaya; an enormous seated Bhudda Image. Se-htat-kyi –meaning ‘Big Ten-storey’ for its height. Drive back to Yangon and overnight.

DAY 15

Departure

Transfer to International Airport for departure.
