RV EMPRESS MANISANDAR (STEAM PADDLER FROM 1940S)

Being a long-obsolete technology, the few paddle steamers still operating are deliberate anachronisms, preserved as museums. Some paddle steamers still operate on the Missisipi River, as do a couple in the United Kingdom. Paddle Steamer “Empress Manisandar” began her life in the name of Minthamee (means Princess) when delivered to Myanmar, then called Burma from her builder, Yarrow of Glasgow in Scotland, one of six arriving in the 1940s. She has been restored to her original grandeur and is once again offering the chance to experience along the Myanmar Rivers in late 2008.
