DAY 01
Mandalay
After breakfast at hotel we start our journey by car to Singu Village for 2 hours.
Then take boat to Hsithe Village for half hour and we will arrive at the village.
Hsithe Village is a big community of poor fishermen and fisherwomen, where we can see a number of interesting additional livelihoods.
After light refreshment at visitor center, we start casting fishing net with the fishermen. The training lasts one hour but it is great fun.
First you will be shown how to cast a net and then it is your turn.
Often dolphins can be observed, feeding in the waters opposite.
After that we will have our picnic lunch [very simple food like fry rice and tea / coffee] at the visitor center and then we can read the information boards that explain about life in the village, the fishing, farming and the local wildlife, especially the Irrawaddy River Dolphin.
It is also opportunity to buy locally made handcrafts in the visitor center shop.
In the afternoon, you will go for a tour of the village which will be led by one for the villagers. You can observe local village life in all its fascinating forms – the architecture, the people, the animals, the activities and the monasteries. It is a village of bullock carts, smiling children, and communities going about their day life – life have changed little over the centuries.
After that we will depart to Mandalay, transfer to hotel and end of services.
Remarks
- Recommended to take the trip all year round
