DAY 01
Time: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
After having breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up at your hotel by our tour guide. Drive towards Bago, which is 80 km northeast of Yangon, and the ancient capital of the Mon Kingdom dated back from the 1st to 16th Century. En route to Bago, stop at the Htauk Kyant Alliance WWII cemetery, which is a memorial cemetery of Allied Soldiers who died in Myanmar Campaign during the WWII. Upon arrival to Bago, visit the Kya Khat Wai Monastery to observe one of the three largest monasteries in the country and the Buddhist monastic life to observe the lunch process of thousands of monks who have their last meal of the day at 10:30 AM. Later, visit the magnificent Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda, which was built over 2000 years ago. Afterwards, visit the Hinthar Gone, which is a legendary hill with 37 Nat (spirits) shrines and learn about the cult of Myanmar People. Also, visit the Kanbawzathardi Palace Site, which is the palace where the famous King Bayint Naung of 15th century stayed in. At lunchtime, have lunch at Hanthawaddy Restaurant.
After lunch, visit the Shwe Thar Lyaung reclining pagoda, which is 55 meters long and dates back to 994 AD. Then, visit the Mya Thar Lyaung Pagoda, as well as the famous Kal Yar Ni Sima with 10 huge stone inscriptions and the Maha Cedi Pagoda. If time permits, observe a local “cheroot” factory, which is a mild-cigar making industry in Bago. At last, visit the Kyaik Pun Pagoda, which is four huge seated Buddha Images in the open air. Later, drive back to Yangon back to your hotel to end the tour.
