eh2One of the highlights of any visit to Myanmar is our exclusive three-day wilderness journey on the pristine western headwaters of the Ayeyarwaddy. Suitable for most age groups, the Nam Lang River combines the thrill of Class 3 and 4 whitewater through thickly forested canyons, with a closer insight into a people and way of life unchanged for centuries. This river journey is an incredible combination of white water, scenery, villages, and truly quiet and introspective evenings in our private camps.

Opening: The Lisu was opened since October 2006 with 10 traditional style individual bungalow suites and who can enjoy the views of distant mountains through the foliage.

A deposit: of 50% of your trip cost per person is required to secure a holiday booking. The balance will need to be least 30 days before the departure date. If the full amount has not been received by this time, the Lisu reserves the right to cancel all booking made on behalf of the client. Booking made within 30 days of the departure date much be paid for in full at the time of booking. Please note prices are based on costs and exchange rates at the time of printing. We reserve the right to adjust tour prices.

Amendments: Please note that changes made by you to your booking will incur an amendment fee off US $ 50 per person amendment. In addition, a cancellation fee may apply.

Cancellations: All cancellations must be advised in writing by person who made the booking. Cancellations are accepted form the date the written confirmation is received and applied to refund guidelines below. Depending on the reason for cancellation these charges may be recoverable on your insurance policy.

Flights: Bad weather in mountains regions can cause flight delays. Please make allowances when booking onwards journeys. We cannot be responsible for any charges you might incur as a result of these delays.
Departure dates will be every Tuesday & Friday from October to April. This will coincide with Air Bagan’s new scheduled service to Putao on those days. Using the services of Air Bagan (F-100, ATR 72/42) will afford all agents greater flexibility in marketing our product in conjunction with other destinations in Myanmar, and will allow us to offer all agents a more competitive rate in our introductory season.

Refunds: Are not made for unused services.

Health and fitness: We strongly recommend a visit to your doctor and dentist your holiday. Your doctor will advise current inoculation requirements. Full details of pre-existing medical conditions must be forwarded with your booking form. Old clients or clients with pre-existing medical condition may require a doctor’s letter confirmation their fitness for the trip. During your holiday you are under the direction of your trip leader and he/she has total authority to determine your suitability to participate or continue.

Changes to your itinerary: Our tours are many months in advance and it may become necessary to make an alteration to your tour. Where practical, we will advise you of such changes (other than minor changes) before commencement of the tour. These tours go into remote areas and changes in itinerary may occur because of weather, illness or accident, civil unrest or force majeure, after your starts. The trip leader has fully responsibility for taking the action he/she deems appropriate.

Travel Insurance: It is a condition of booking that all expedition members must be protected by their own Medical Evacuation Insurance, which provides for helicopter rescue. The purpose of insurance is to provide proper coverage suited to the specific needs of Adventure Tourism and in the case of and case of emergency works quickly and efficiently. Your insurance should also cover accidents, health and loss or damage to personal effect.

Day 01 Arrival Yangon

Welcome at Yangon International Airport. Transfer and check in at the hotel. Orientation tour Yangon if time permits. Visit the colonial area, Sule Pagoda - the landmark of Yangon City Centre, Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha Image. Finally, visit Shwedagon Pagoda - one of the wonders of the world. Overnight at Yangon.

Day 2 Flight to Putao

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Putao. Upon arrival, transfer to the Lisu house in time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure in the grounds of our beautiful wilderness lodge, with time for a refreshing swim or spa treatment. Group dinner and drinks at the main lodge in front of our open fireplaces, and briefing from Ayeyarwaddy Expeditions on the following days adventure.

Day 3 Trek to Nam Lang Valley

An hours drive from Malikha Lodge we pass the village of Upper Sangaung which marks the beginning of the jungle. The road continues on for a few more km, towards the pass leading into the Nam Lang Valley to the beginning of our trek. We trek at a moderate pace for six to seven hours, four hours to the top of the pass, and another two down to our river camp. In traditional style the porters carry all the expedition food and equipment ahead, leaving us free to enjoy this scenic trek through untouched subtropical forest and giant bamboo. Our river camp lies close to the first river canyon, which is marked by a spectacular rattan and bamboo bridge across the river.

Day 4 First day rafting

The following day, after breakfast everyone is fitted with their specialist rafting gear, while the trip leader and safety kayaker give an extensive lesson in river safety and paddling technique. We pass by the remote Lisu village of Nam Ze, at the foot of more snow-capped peaks. This is our last contact with “civilization” as we take an isolated loop into the lower canyons. Two hours below this village and we encounter some excellent technical rapids. From here we raft down to our final river beach camp at the beginning of the second canyon.

Day 5 Second day rafting

After a hearty breakfast we start the final and most challenging days rafting. An hour later, we reach three exciting and technical rapids stacked in succession in a tight bedrock canyon. The trio of rapids ends with a bang in a series of drops between massive boulders. From here it is about three hours rafting and leisurely cruising back to our home at Malikha Lodge, where a glass of champagne and long hot shower awaits.

Day 6 Fly to Mandalay

After a final leisurely breakfast at Malikha Lodge, check out and late morning transfer to Putao airport to connect with your flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival Mandalay, transfer and check in at the hotel. Leisure on your own and overnight in Mandalay.

Day 07 Excursion Amarapura, Sagaing & Ava

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Mahamuni Buddha Image - one of the most sacred Buddha Images in Myanmar. Excursion to Amarapura (01:00 hour), an ancient capital of Myanmar, where we can observe the life of over 1000 monks at Mahagandaryon Monastery & silk weaving factory. Proceed to Sagaing, where we can observe the fascinating landscapes of the Ayeyarwaddy River from serene Sagaing Hill, the place of over 700 monasteries. Continue to Ava and visit by horse carts to Maenu Okkyaung Monastery-built by the chief queen in 1818 for the venerable chief monk is the unique brick type building of 19th century, Nan Myint Tower-27 meter masonry high is declined due to the earthquake in 1811, Bargayar Monasterywell known for its wood carving with 267 teak pillars. Come back to Amarpaura and enjoy the sunset by crossing over U Bein bridge. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 08 River cruise Mingun & sightseeing Mandalay

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Boat excursion to Mingun (01 hour) along mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. During the river cruise, we may enjoy the fascinating landscapes of the river as well as the daily life of the people living along the Ayeyarwaddy. Visit Mingun pagoda – unfinished one & the biggest ringing bell of 90 tons, the unusual Myatheindan pagoda. Back to Mandalay and visit to the traditional handicraft workshops such as, marble carving, gold leaves beating, Kuthodaw Pagoda – the world biggest book, Shwenandaw (Golden Palace) Monastery. Finally enjoy the sunset on the top of Mandalay Hill where we can admire the beauty of Mandalay City, Shan Plateau, etc. Come back to hotel and leisure. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 09 Flight to Bagan. Sightseeing Bagan

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bagan. Arrival and transfer to hotel. Visit colorful local market, Shwezigon Pagoda - the glory of Bagan, Htilominlo Temple - the best pilaster carving, Nathtaukkyaung - monastery made of teak wood, Ananda Temple - the masterpiece of Bagan, Gubyaukgyi Temple - the best mural paintings of 11th century, Manuha Templehuge Buddha Images in standing and reclining positions, Dhamayangyi Temple - the biggest temple in Bagan, Sulamani Temple - the 12th century temple, the lacquerware workshop - the unique of Bagan, etc. Finally, enjoy the sunset on top of a pagoda or temple. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 10 Flight to Yangon. Sightseeing & departure

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, visit Bogyoke market[except on Monday] & china town. Evening, transfer to Yangon International Airport for the departure flight.
